Hello Lovelies!

Don't you just love graceful dragonflies? And still steaming tea just brings peace of mind, don't you think?...

I'm happy to announce that a new "Tea with Dragonfly" drawing is ready to be added to my Etsy shop! i just need to take additional photographs of it to put it online for sale.

So here's my new piece... Mmmh, there's something wrong with blogger and i just can't upload it... You can see it on flickr though, right here. Until I fix things!

Fixed ! Here it is :

My new piece of art has the same setting as the tea scene pictured above, except it's a "Tea Scene in Blue, Orange and Green".

New Work : "la cigale demoiselle"

Hello lovelies!

I have been working on several insect drawings lately, and I'm happy to tell you they will appear this week in my Etsy shop.

Here is a preview:

I have found my inspiration for this special cicada ("cigale" in French) in a book called "Métamorphoses : le monde fascinant des insectes", which could be translated into: "Metamorphosis: The Fascinating World of Insects".

This book is a treasure to me, as it is not available anymore. It displays old plates and drawings of insects of all kind, all taken from the Bibliothèque Nationale de France (BNF)... It is a truly beautiful book.

Let me add alittle note about my work process.
I take these wonderful old-fashioned drawings and make my own contemporary interpretation of them, with ink, paper and some white gouache, on watercolor paper. And in this case, some pencil for the tiniest, daintiest details of the wings of the cicada.

I hope you enjoyed this little preview and behind-the-scenes post.

Have a nice day!

Tea with Jjjjound.com

Hello lovelies!

Sorry For Not Blogging much this week! But I have reasons... Sometimes an artist can simply feel tired or blue (or both)...

Fortunately, I have visited the infamous jjjjound.com blog, and I've found plenty of inspiration there!

First, I sat down for a nice cup of tea, of course...

Then, I had a look at all those fab ateliers and artists' studios. I don't have one at the moment, only a table that doubles as my computer desk. But look for yourself:

Then, they were beautiful still lives of drawing material:

The blogger behind "jjjjound" has been strangely obsessed with bicycles lately...

I'm more into art and melancholy...

though I'm not letting that dark cloud invade my soul...

and make me say "I hate everybody" !

I'd rather look at the marvels of nature...

and simply... go back to drawing! Let's grab a blank page and doodle away!

or get into the thick of it and paint!

Talk soon,

-Vic

btw, I just found out that I'm 59% geek. This comes as no surprise, though.

Happiness is a Butterfly

FFF

Hello Lovelies!

"FFF" means "Friday Flickr Fix" - it is the name of a flickr image group. This group is no longer active, but I keep liking making mosaics and getting my weekly FFF.

Here's my new mosaic, made out of two of my fave photos (not by me, but from my photostream).

Enjoy!

Busy Bee

Hello Lovelies!

"Tea with Lost Feather" - original art by Vic Lipson

...and Happy Monday to you!

I'm busy as a bee preparing a Monday Mood Board - made out of my flickr faves - for you to enjoy, as well as fine tuning this brand new blog for an optimal enjoyable reading experience. If you have a look at my complete profile, you'll see I'm adding a lot of goodies to my blogroll, while trying to keep "My Cup of Tea" (favorite blogs) to a maximum of five highlights!

Now to the fun, creative part... :-) I've been drawing a tea scene in a entirely different style (for me) this past week-end and I'm happy to announce it's up on the shop! It's called "Tea with a Lost Feather". More photos and views are available here. Please note that just *one* image is a scan, while the other are photographs that I took, trying on different settings and lights, so you'll get the best idea of how this piece of art really looks!

Hope you enjoy it!

Wednesday Faves: Showpony

Hello lovelies!

photo and purse by "showpony"

I hope you all had a great Ester week-end!

I feel restored myself, and can feel my creative juices flowing! It's a good thing, since my Etsy shop opens officially... tomorrow! Be prepared for some nice surprises for readers of this blog!

Today I wanted to start a new series right here, right now: following Scoutie Girl's suggestion, I mean to introduce you to a new favorite Etsy shop of mine each and every Wednesday.

So without further ado, I'll tell you about "showpony", a great shop run by Emma Henderson from Glasgow, Scotland. The truth be told, I discovered this shop only today, but I'm already smitten. I'm not good with textiles, so people who are fascinate me! Emma of "showpony" stamps and prints on canvas bags and other textiles.

And then... I discovered beautiful insects in Emma's shop! So this is definitely a fave for me: "Lavender Bugs gift set", a set of two wonderful lavender sachets with bugs printed on them. My fave pattern is this one:

Time For Play – no work allowed!

Hello Lovelies!

this original photograph was taken by me - all rights reserved.

Just like Holly from the lovely decor8 blog said today : this week-end is "time for play – no work allowed!" - I like that!

I plan to draw and doodle my heart away (that's not work, that's love, kids!) and also play the game of the TAO with friends on Saturday afternoon.

Saturday there will be a visit to "Fontaine de Vaucluse", in the great South of France (Europe), to come and see an usual source that springs only once a year, during this period of time! A very misty fountain it is, and I'm sure I'll enjoy the trip to it!

What lovely things will you be doing this Easter week-end? Relax? Gather with friends and family perhaps? Do tell!
