Today is the last of September - where oh where did that beautiful month go so fast? - and I realized that at 7AM the sun was not up yet, anymore. So it's time to go back to my Fall Essentials pinboard for inspiration & comfort.

I didn't buy any of the items on my wishlist - they were here more as a reminder than an actual prompt to buy. I will show you Lovelies what I did buy in a minute. But back to Fall Essentials first.

Part of my Fall Essentials is a daily dose of serendipity. Take the Grand Amour perfume - it has my name written all over it. The behind-the-scenes story about this scent, the way it smells - divine!, even the butterfly on top of its bottle: all these elements give me the impression that perfume was somehow meant for me.

This perfume is devoted to love, the most powerful force which can move the worlds: love of beauty, love of perfume, love of music (Annick Goutal's husband a lifetime love was a cellist) and simply put; love of life.

On My WishList for September 2013: Fashion, Beauty & Home Decor Things I'd Like to Have

Don't get me wrong, I am thankful for what I already have but these beauties have caught my eyes lately.

A new perfume:

Perfumes from the niche range by l'Arquiste.

Affordable frag samples are available through reliable sites such as LuckyScent or SurrenderToChance. I really want to try both L'Etrog - citrus frag - and Infanta en flor - an orange blossom/jasmin kind of frag.


Things I'd like to wear:

This silhouette is from Caroll (I usually like that classic with a twist brand).
And:

I like the whole outfit and feel i need a zigzag Missoni-inspired loose top, a classic black skirt and thin leather belt. after digging in my wardrobe I found out I already had all these items, or something similar.

I am inspired by this view from the catwalk, a perfect mix of masculine (the fabric) & feminine (the loose cut, the lipstick) for fall 2013:

something from Rachel Unger Jewelry, of course - I received myparcel today, YAY! so more on that purchase soon. And this statement piece, spotted earlier this year in a Paris shop's window:

A beauty product or two:

Though I do tend to buy organic skincare and mineral makeup, those versatile lipsticks by Givenchy are a hell of an (expensive) temptation.

The Beauty of the Letterpress

Beauty tips from a French gal: Spring Essentials

Sorry, I've been hibernating of late... But hooray, Spring is just around the corner!

Let's check out a few Spring Essentials here, then I'll share my organic beauty tips with you.

So what is essential in Spring, beautywise? The light changes, the weather is warmer... You will need:

Protection form the Sun. Go mineral!

Lighter shades of makeup (think of Rose lipstick, instead of Bright Red shades you might use in Winter).

Essential Oils mix against spring allergies (hay fever).

Beauty Secrets of A French Gal - Winter Essentials

The following tips are a translation of my own "beauté froide" blog post originally published in French and which you can read here. The products mentioned in this post are available in France and are the ones I use personnally (this is not a sponsored post).


Here are my essentials when the weather becomes colder:

my shea butter - photo, my own.

As it is organic and very versatile, i use a lot of shea butter (and it lasts a long time too!), especially the one called "karité soft", by Melvita (see photo above). It smells faintly of orange essential oil, has shea butter in it of course, but also argan oil which nourishes the skin and is also anti-ageing). Use this shea butter mix on your dry lips, cold feet etc... and on any other very dry area of your body,  hair or face.

tip: with a clean spatula, i also fill a small round tin box with some "karité soft", so i can carry it easily around and apply it often on lips and nails. Plese note that nails are an especially dry and delicate area you'll want to nourish frequently.


on my face i apply... well my skin is oily but still needs moisture esp in winter so i use either organic creams as follows: "soin hydratant jour de monop' bio" or "fluide hydratant jour à l'iris de weleda", which can be found woldwide (look for an Iris scented moiturizing fluid by Weleda) . its a treat! but careful not to apply too close to the eyes, it has a lot of essential oils in it which might irritate your eyes.

as for my natural health, i rely a lot on the careful use of essential oils

Beauty Secrets of A French Gal - Fall Essentials

You might remember my beauty secrets for the summertime, all with a French twist... I like to gather my Essential tips for each season on a pinterest board, and frankly my Fall Essentials board on pinterest is one of my faves! You might want to start there...

After sun moisture is key in this Autumn season...
I recommend you use jojoba oil, as one or two drops are enough for your face and neck. Plus jojoba oil suits the need of most skins (both dry and oily) and can also be applied overnight on your hair as a moisturizing treatment. Just shampoo your hair in the morning and... voilà !

"Back to school" also means back to basics, including in your beauty regimen. Don't forget to gently cleanse your skin then apply some moisturizing oil. I have an oily skin care regimen (using petit grain essential oil) detailed in French over at
my French blog, if you wish.

Fall is also the right time to take better care of your nails. Simply massage them with some shea butter.

To me, Fall also means buying a new bra, and some new rachel unger jewelry (check out her Etsy shop) like a dainty stone bracelet. What about you? Any tips?

French Beauty Tips for The Lazy Gal

After reading these lazy beauty tips ( I really enjoyed the writer's sense of humor), I decided to share my own 'lazy' tips with you today.

Here is my comment on the 'lazy beauty' post: 

"Oh! I love the laziness idea here! In France, it has been turned into a series of fun books, called "les Paresseuses" (paresseuse is the French for lazy), and that way you can have beauty tips, wardrobe tips, fitness tips, cooking tips etc... for the lazy gals!
I love all-in-one products. Especially if they're organic or eco-friendly.

I use a self-foaming device for producing a soft soap for my face (try Caudalie's, if has such an incredible Fleur de Vigne scent). I just press the pump, get a tangerine size of foam ready to use. I put it gently on my face without rubbing, the soap gently washes my oils off the face. I simply rinse it while under the shower in the morning. Simple!


For my nails, I'm glad Essie finally arrived in France. I use the all-in-one base. 'nuff said.

To replace the eight hour cream you don't like, why not use organic jojoba oil, great for face/hair/body? or try Melvita's "Karité soft", which is a ready-to-use blend of shea butter (karité in French) and other moisturizing oils that faintly smells of orange peel. I use it on my lips, cuticles, nails, feet and other dehydrated places that need extra-care."
